In the past month, I’ve seen live peformances from Dina Martina, Trixie Mattell, Janelle Monae, Grace Jones, and Sandra Bernhard. We went to the Pride Night Cubs Game. We Midsommarfested. We went to the Sidetrack Anniversary Party then went back the following night—twice. It’s a level of social activity I never imagined, truly! It’s been an inoculation against my default (and grossly inaccurate) belief that I don’t have the energy to go out and do all of these things. I do! I do, alright? I do!
Chromotherapia: Feel-Good Color Photography

This book popped up in The Daily Heller email newsletter. Instant wish list addition. In high school, I purchased a slim 9″ x 12″ volume of Pierre et Gilles’ work, of which I cut out all of the pages to sticky-tack to my walls. I’ve always been enamored with art that presents a technicolor dream world, and this book seems like a natural extension of that motif. An accompanying exhibit just ended at the Villa Medici… if I’m lucky maybe someday I will see it.
clinamen
My other artwork crush right now is clinamen by Céleste Boursier-Mougenot. I’ve seen the current installation (at the Bourse de Commerce in Paris) pop up on my TikTok feed and I marvel at how simple, beautiful, and effective it is. Here’s an interview with the artist.
I don’t believe my art can change anything in the madness of today’s world, I don’t presume to know what anyone needs, but since I’m invited to present my work, I bring the best I have.
